Cold Water Swimming is all about swimming in the sea, particularly the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This is the pinnacle of extreme water sports where you face numerous dangers: hypothermia, exhaustion, sharks, blue bottles and jellyfish, not to mention big swells and winds and currents. There is a bunch of people who swim every Sunday morning in either Camps Bay or Clifton. Meet at 09:00 on the lawns opposite Caprice in Camps Bay, or on the first Sunday of the month on 4th Beach, Clifton. The 4th Beach swims are organised by Warren Fialkov under the banner of 1SOMS (1st Sunday of the Month). The weather is seldom a show stopper and it is only when the sea is very rough that we may cancel a swim, or maybe not. As of October 2010 there is also a monthly Last Sunday of the Month swim at Blouberg.
